A gate/bridge between the northern end of 'The Great Pent' (today known as Wellington Dock) and 'East Broad Water' is located on William Eldred's map which dates to 1641 (sheets 1/2), it is labelled on this map as Brunyar's Bridge. Today this northern end of the Great Pent/Wellington Dock has been filled in and neither the bridge nor 'East Broad Water' survives. The exact construction and demolition date of this bridge/gate is unknown. (1) Another plan, which may also possibly be attributed to Eldred and which dates to 1631, shows this bridge (2). It is also clearly shown on Hogbens map which dates to 1769, here it is labelled 'Bungers Bridge' (3)
