A watching brief on trenches for a major new water pipeline for Dover. This is the second phase of works (there were three in total). Area 7 includes Castle Hill Road. Rising up onto the lower slopes of Castle Hill, the pipe trench revealed that there had been extensive disturbance to the archaeolgical deposits in this area by a post medieval well and cellar wall to the northwest side of Castle Hill Road. The cellar and well must relate to post medieval cottages fronting onto the early road prior to the widening of the street. There were also traces of one possible cobbled surface, possibly a road from the post medieval period.(1)
