Mill Hill miners village was purpose built in 1929 to house miners from the Snowdown and Betteshanger mines.
Farmland was purchased at Mill Hill on the outskirts of Deal by Snowdown and Betteshanger Tenants Ltd. On this land an estate of 950 houses were built. A full range of public buildings were also constructed including a hospital, churches and social facilities for the miners. Many of the buildings retain their original use however none are considered worthy of inclusion in the register of Listed Buildings. (1)
