This building is accepted to be one of the original winding sheds at Wingham Colliery and used by the present owners of the site as a cleaning facility although it has been altered substantially and is surrounded by new buildings and grain silos. (1)

It is considered to be one of three buildings on the original colliery site to survive. (2)
