Summary

The Lion Brewery was located in dover Place in Ashford. It was established in 1850 and had to be rebuilt after a fire in 1864. After changing hands several times the site became a store in 1912 until 1921 when it was converted into the site of the Ashford Valley Cider Company. The buildings were demoilshed in 1971 and nothing remains at the site.

Lion Brewery est. 1850 by Green and Laud and operated by Thomas Chapman from 1868. Brewery rebuilt after fire of 1864 - acquired by Mr Newport in 1866 and then by Chapman & Sons in 1868. It was later aquired by Style and Winch in 1912 and used as stores until 1921 when converted by Ashford Valley Cider Co. Demolished 1971 (1)
