Second World War communications point in a shelter at Swanscombe Council Offices, Swanscombe Cross. Telephones installed in a shelter there in January, 1943, the shleter being then covered with six feet of sand for protection. This was for civil defence purposes. Longevity unknown. The council offices were demolished post-war. (1) the building is visible and labelled on the fourth Edition OS map dating to 1929-1952. (2)
