Removed field boundaries (ditch type) also at TR 32176077. (1) AP shows 2 pit features adjacent to the feature. (2)

Three ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1990 [3]. Two of them are shown functioning as field boundaries on historic Ordnance Survey mapping [4]. The field system shown on this historic mapping is likely to be post-medieval in date. The remaining ditch appears to flow into the westernmost of the two mapped ditches. It is likely that it is also a field boundary and probably represents a previously unrecorded element of the field layout shown on historic mapping. The pits referred to in the original monument description are highly likely to be WWII bomb craters, these are now recorded as MWX43285.

The features were mapped at 1:2500 scale from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage Richborough Environs Project. The transcriptions produced by this project were added to those produced by the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment (2009-10), see Associated Events.
