Summary
Roman cremation burials were found in 1876-80 in front of Convent, Westgate-on-Sea. Possibly part of the cemetery found at Hundreds Brickfield in 1865 [see TR 36 NW 32]. No further discoveries were made at the site when new buildings were built in the 1960s.

[TR 3164 6957] Roman Cremations found A.D. 1876-80 [T.I.] (1) Several Roman cinerary urns with burnt human remains were found in the shrubberies in front of Convent, Canterbury Road, Westgate-on-Sea, 1876-80.(2) No further information gained during fieldwork(3) No further information was gained at St. Ursulines Convent; nothing was found there when new buildings were erected 1961-2. This is possibly part of the cemetery found at Hundreds Brickfield in 1865 - [see TR 36 NW 32] (4) Neolithic and Romano British burials were found here last century.
