Full description

If you do not understand anything on this page please contact us.

At TR 31455001, just N of the road from East Studdal to Tilmanstone, on a chalk ridge at a height of 200 ft. O.D., a barrow circle or ring ditch is visible as a well-defined crop-marked in a field of wheat. It is about 18.0 m. in diameter overall, the ditch being 1.5m. wide. Other markings in the field(b) indicate the sites of an irregular-shaped enclosure and of wartime zigzag trenches centred about TR 314501, but nothing was seen of them on the ground.
