Three cinerary Roman urns, containing burnt bones, were discovered near Sandwich Railway Station. Mr W H Rolfe, in describing these remains stated the following; one contained a small urn of coarse dark clay, and had a small red cup and two urns placed about it; another had a red bottle and some Samian ware surrounding it; the third had two paterae of the same ware, in one of which were three coins; one of Julia Mamaea, one of Alexander Severus in base silver, and one in brass, uncertain. (This burial would appear to date c.221-250 AD). (1) No further information obtained during fieldwork. (2)
