TR 318413. Four adult inhumation burials were discovered by B. Philp while carrying out trial excavations for the Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit and the DOE at Albany Place, in gardens of a major housing development during 1979-80. The site included the west side of the Roman naval fort, locating part of the south gate of the fort and parts of two major chalk block buildings. Demolition rubble covering these buildings was cut by the burials, probably part of a hitherto unknown cemetery of Saxon or Medieval date. (1-2)
