A quern was found recently by Mr. F. Spanton at Chislet Court Farm, Chislet. (1)

On exhibition in Chislet Parish Church is the top stone of a beehive quern, found in 1950 at Highstead Farm by Mr. Gralton, and presented by Mr. F.E. Spanton (a) (formerly of Chislet Court Farm). The stone was discovered 3 feet down, at TR 21156623 during the sinking of drainage pipes (b). (Mr. Tomlinson is now dead). (2)

Additional Info (3 - 5).

Excavtion in this area in 1989 found no evidence of drainagepipes which does suggest that the location for this find is wrong.(6)
