TR 2436. Brooch 'found on the shore, The Warren, (name centred TR 247379, which suggests that the brooch was found in the area centred TR 246374) before 1891. This brooch in the British Museum (BM 91, 3-20, 18) and is from the Aylesford culture. It is silver with a broken catch-plate and a two coil spring with external chord and simple boss on the bow. Two similar brooches were found with cremations (TR 23 NW 109) during the excavations at the Roman villa at Folkestone (TR 23 NW 11). The villa had, in part, been destroyed by cliff falls on to the shore and as the isolated brooch was found on the shore, it is likely that is was from the cemetery (TR 23 NW 109). (1)
