Summary

A cliff railway located at the The Leas, Folkestone built in 1885. It is an unusual, if not unique cliff railway, as it is a double one with four tracks and four cars. The first pair of tracks, built in 1885, are 5 feet ten inches gauge and the second pair, built in 1890 are 4 foot ten inches gauge. The railway is 180 feet long and was originally of the water-balance type, but later electrified. It became a listed building in 1989.

TR 224355. Cliff railway. The Leas, Folkestone. Completed in 1885, it is an unusual, if not unique cliff railway, as it is a double one, having four tracks and four cars. The first pair of tracks, built in 1885, are 5 feet ten inches gauge and the second pair, built in 1890 are 4 foot ten inches gauge.
