(TR 14765733) Bastion [NR]. (1) Excavation of bastion revealed Ro wall and some evidence that it was on the site of a Ro tower. (2) The semi-circular bastion, much restored, stands to its full height. (3) The eastern half of the large medieval external angle-tower on the city wall adjoining the Dane John Mound was excavated in 1954 and proved to be entirely medieval in date. (4)
