The site of Airfield 121 (Lydd),2.5m NW of Lydd on a minor road off Hawthorn Corner, initially used as a Balloon training camp from 1886 to the 1900s by the Royal Engineers and latter for aeroplanes by the Royal Flying Corps 1914 - 1918. After which it returned to agriculture.

In 1940 it became a decoy airfield, changing designation in 1942 to ALG (Advanced Landing Ground) having good air approaches but little cover.

The airfield covered much of Newland Upper Agney and Scotts Marsh farms avoiding the farm buildings, consisting of two track runways, aligned NE-SW and NW-SE, and mobile workshops with personnel living in tents, becoming No. 121 Airfield in June 1943.

It was bombed on September 15th 1943, with no casualties. Five Blister hangers were erected and further tracking was laid, though not used and on 13th December 1944 the airfield was de-requisitioned with site clearance taking place in early 1945 leaving only the form of a Nissan hut and some concrete near the road. The area has returned to agriculture.(1)
