Summary

A concrete World War II anti-tank artillery pillbox, located in garden of Deangate, Hoo St. Werburgh. This Type 28A pillbox faces north-east. Forming part of Hoo stop line (GHQ line) anti invasion defences 1940. It was visited during 1995 as part of a defensive survey and found to be in good condition.

Standard concrete construction anti-tank pillbox with 4 embrasures

This feature is recorded in the English Heritage report on the Second World War Stop Line in the Hoo Peninsula, part of the wider Hoo Peninsula study. The report states that this is a "Second World War rectangular reinforced concrete artillery pillbox, type 28, is located in the garden on Deangate, on the east side of Deangate Road, north of Hoo St Werburgh. The pillbox survives although part of the house garden has been laid on top of it. The pillbox was located during a field visit in 2014 and appeared (from the road) to be in good condition." (2).

Concrete anti-tank pillbox type 28 facing north. Probably a duplicate of TQ 77 SE 1287 but this needs checking.
