The following text is from the original listed building designation:
RAMSGATE HIGH STREET TR 3765 SE & TR 3865 SW (north-east side) No. 125 (The Old House) and walled forecourt GV II * 0/d1
House. Early C18. Brown brick with red brick details and plain tiled roof. Two storeys and attic with basement on plinth with moulded wooden eaves cornice to roof with pedimented Dutch gables, 2 flat roofed dormers and stacks to rear left and to rear right. Regular fenestration of 4 glazing bar sashes- on each floor, all with gauged red brick heads, grouped in pairs with central door of 6 raised and fielded panels, the top 2 glazed. Doorcase with fluted Doric pilasters, triglyph frieze and modillioned pediment, and with 2 moulded steps. Basement openings to left and to right. Interior: panelled interiors survive both ground floor and first floor, generally plain beaded panelling to entrance hall and to left hand room, with marble fireplace and round headed recesses to left and right of fireplace. Similar panelling to upper rooms. Right hand ground floor room with panelled wainscot, dado rail and panelled filling, all raised and fielded, as are the shutters and door. Bolection moulded fireplace with panelled overmantel and domed fitted cupboards to left and to right. The top lit stair is a later infill replacing original newel stair. Walled forecourt, with 5 feet high brick walls projecting from house to rendered piers with caps, with low rendered front wall, now with late C20 breeze block courses over. The house heavily swathed in scaffolding at time of survey.
