2/101 Nos. 1 and 2 Ewell 24.1.67 Farmhouse II*
House, now 2 houses. C14 to C16. Timber framed and clad with painted brick, with return wing part rendered, part clad with painted brick and tile hung. Plain tiled roof. L-shaped plan, the two wings connected by short jettied bay. Two storeys and attic on plinth with string course. Half-hipped roof with 3 gabled dormers and stacks to rear and centre left. Two storey hipped porch to centre left. Three metal casements on first floor, 4 on ground floor and blocked brick mullioned light in right flank of porch. Roll moulded arched doorway in parch with square surround and pilasters. Return wing to left with hipped tiled roof and irregular fenestration of wooden casements. Interior: A complex building. Main range with exposed frame of C14 or C15 hallhouse; finely moulded C16 ceiling beams and tie beams, braced trussed rafter roof, some evidence of former crown posts. Moulded brick fireplaces. Side wing, with range of 3 double rebated crown posts and intermediate trusses, on cambered tie beams of only narrow width. Evidence of jettying and truncated moulded ceiling beams in ground floor. Fine crown post in the bay joining the 2 wings, and open well with winder early C18 stair with turned balusters and moulded handrail. stone fireplace with rose decorated spandrels.
