Summary

Work in connection with conversion of buildings at Archcliffe Fort for use by St. Martin's Emmaus Community in 1996 and 1997. Along with evidence of demolished 18/19th century fort buildings, a number of prehistoric waste and worked flints, pot boilers and one piece of pottery were found of Late Neolithic-Bronze Age in date. The quanitity of flint materials suggest that there was an occupation site in the area

Work in connection with conversion of buildings at Archcliffe Fort for use by St. Martin's Emmaus Community in 1996 and 1997. Along with evidence of demolished 18/19th century fort buildings, a number of prehistoric waste and worked flints, pot boilers and one piece of pottery were found of Late Neolithic-Bronze Age in date. The quanitity of flint materials suggest that there was an occupation site in the area. Evidence of prehistoric activity was also found during archaeological working undertaken at the fort in 1992. No report was available, see event KE4643 .(1-2)
