Summary
Set back on the crest of the hills above Folkestone, this line of pillboxes between Peene and The Warren was part of a coastal crust of anti-invasion defences established in 1940. With their all-round field of fire, they both helped protect Folkestone form assault from the rear or flanks and could fire on an advance inland from Folkestone.
The 9 pillboxes found during the visit were Type 22's divided by a north-south valley and road from Folkestone into two groups along West and East Crete Roads. Several had entrances protected by a defensive porch.
