A gun emplacement, north west of Cornhill Coastguard Station and SW of the military railway, called 'Upper Road (south) Position No 3' is recorded on a map of 1912 in the PRO. It appears to be linked to No 4 'Upper Road North' either by an earthwork or by barbed wire. No evidence for this site is visible on the ground today (1)

Three C-shaped banked probable gun emplacements visible on aerial photography taken in 1941, 1945 and 1946 [2, 3 and 4], located in Dover. The earthworks varied between 7m and 10.5m in diameter. They were located alongside a WWII pillbox (Mke42085), which implies that the banks were WWI in date. The barbed wire enclosing the pillbox (Mke42085) also enclosed the gun emplacements. These features were no longer visible on aerial photography taken in 1978 [5] or on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2007 [6 and 7].

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
