Registration No. MALDON 95467 Precise coordinates not available, last known location of vessel reported by Society for Spritsail Barge Research. MERMAID was built at Maldon by Howard in 1888. She was owned successively by Gutteridge, Last, and Butcher. She is noted as a barge yacht in 1936 and then a house barge. (1). There is a gate marked with a 'No Entry' sign here, with a wooden name plate saying 'Mermaid'. There are metal hulled houseboats visible here, but nothing that looks like a sprritsail barge is visible from the road. (2)
