A feature within the grounds of Walmer Castle, thought to have originated as a chalk quarry pit. The Glen was landscaped and planted between 1805 and 1859. During an evaluation in 2017 in advance of a restoration project, substantive remnants of gravel footpaths were found in test pits 4, 5 and 7. Two fragments of brick and two of pottery found in pit 3 were consistent with the historic date of The Glen’s landscapinguse as part of the gardens in the early 19th century. (1)
