During an archaeological watching brief undertaken by Canterbury Archaeological Trust at The Grand Shaft Barracks in 2017 a large piece of Bronze Age pottery was uncovered. This was the earliest piece of pottery uncovered during the evaluation and was located within an early clay dump during the excavtion of trench 6B. The sherd was a largish base fragment of oxidised brown, sparsley flint tempered ware. (1)
