Summary

On a number of cartographic sources dating to the post medieval period, the area on the north eastern side of Granville Dock, within an area formerlly occupied by the tidal harbour, the land has been consolidated and built upon. These buildings were later demolished when the tidal harbour was extended to the east in the later 19th century. (location accurate to the nearest 50m based on available information)

On a number of cartographic sources dating to the post medieval period, the area on the north eastern side of Granville Dock, within an area formerlly occupeid by the tidal harbour, the land has been consolidated and built upon. These buildings were later demolished when the tidal harbour was extended to the east in the later 19th century. William Eldred's map which dates to 1641 shows the land divided into plots and owned or rented by various people.(1) A slightly later map by Foquet which dates to 1737, also shows this land and the structures that occupy it are labelled as 'The Buildings'.(2) Later maps also show this land and buildings these include that by Hogben dating to 1769 (3) by Rennie dating to 1805 (4) and by Tucker, dating to 1833 (5).
