Summary: | Results of ten monitored window-sample boreholes and three shallow hand-dug test pits. Sampling was carried out for pollen remains from the clay silt beds, equivalent to the Swanscombe Upper Middle Gravel. The Boyn Hill/Orsett Heath terrace deposits were confirmed as present beneath the majority of the site. The Lower Middle Gravel, known to be rich in artefactual remains, may appear close beneath the ground surface in the northern part of the site. |
