Shipbuilding yard first visible on the Ordnance Survey 1877 edition [1]. The same site was visible on the Ordnance Survey 1898 edition [2] as a timber yard. No trace of the site was visible on the Ordnance Survey 1938 edition [3] or on OS MasterMap dating to 2009 [4]. The area was given a monument polygon during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
