Summary
Brennan torpedo launching slips at Cliffe Fort. The slips are still visible but generally in a poor condition structurally. They are overgrown and little of the iron fittings survive in situ. The northernmost slip has corroded remains in place including railings, their stanchions, and the possible remains of its launching mechanism and winch.

Brennan toropedo lauching slips, (1) Photographs. See also TQ 77 NW 25.(2-8). The slips are still visible. There is some substantial structural failure in the concrete fabric of slips. The southernmost slip is overgrown with bladderwrack and difficult to see in detail. Little of the iron fittings survive in situ. The northernmost slip is still recognisable, with the rails and their rounded Y-shaped support stanchions in situ though these are heavily corroded. The structure of this slip is seriously failing and is showiung signs of substantial break up as it nears the channel. There are steps and an entrance visible at the fort end of this slip, with what mat be some remains of the launching mechanism, mostly what may be a winch) though these remains are probably incomplete and in a poor condition (9)
