Summary

During rescue excavations in Dover town centre undertaken by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit in the 1970's, sections of all four of the walls of the Roman Classis Britannica Fort were revealed. Alongside this, parts of the northern and eastern gate houses the north-east corner and the south-west corner were also located. From these remains it is possible to ascertain the overall original dimensions of the CLBR fort. (location accurate to the nearest 5m based on available information)
