Summary

A total of 11m of this drain was uncovered running south-east from the perimeter road. (location accurate to the nearest 2m based on available information)

During extensive rescue excavations undertaken across Dover’s Town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit a chalk block drain was located at three points in a metalled area in the south east corner of the fort at the Battle of Britain Homes Site in 1971. A total of 11m of this drain was uncovered running south-east from the perimeter road. Internally it was 22cm wide by 11cm deep. (1)
