(Summarised from publication)

During extensive rescue excavations undertaken across Dover’s Town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit a chalk block drain was located in 1971 at the Battle of Britain Homes site. 9m of the drain was traced running north-south about 2m east of a barrack block (B25). The drain had chalk block sides and capstones which gave it a width of 26cm and between 16cm and 30cm deep. A trench 10m to the north revealed a possible continuation of this drain giving an overall minimum length of 19m. (1)
