During extensive rescue excavations undertaken across Dover’s Town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit a substantial chalk block drain was located in 1971 at the Battle of Britain Homes site. 0.5m of the drain was traced running north-south the north-west corner of the site.

There was no base block or any traces of a capstone located, the side stones were placed vertically giving an internal width of 30cm and depth of 26cm. (1)
