Much of the road had been destroyed by the large ditch associated with the late Roman Saxon Shore Fort. It is however, likely that it would have once occupied the entire space between the east granary and structure B19, giving a total width of approximately 7m. The road consisted of at least two layers of pebble metalling which probably reflect the two main construction periods evidenced in the other buildings at the site. (1)
