Excavations in 1973-74, at the former site of the substantial Warren and Reynolds store, to the north of Queen Street, a chalk block drain (B92) was uncovered and traced for a total distance of 11m running roughly north-east by south-west across the site, and would have flowed towards the harbour.

This substantial drain consisted of a chalk block bed and flanking side walls which survived to a height of 25cm (two courses), and were 25cm wide. Only one of the original capstones survived, this was a large greensand slab. (1)
