During an archaeological evaluation in 1990 at Albany Place, Dover, two probable 2nd century rooms with hypocaust, opus signinum floors and painted plaster were located in trench 3, probably of 2nd century date and related to the use of the area as a Classis Britannica fort (c. AD 138-208)

The features (AB-3-1 ) were described as the south, west and central walls of two small rooms. The remains had been badly robbed but traces of a hypocaust could be seen beneath the floors which showed evidence of opus signinum. There was also some painted plaster in situ. (1)
