Summary

A number of pillboxes were constructed across the Western Heights in the 20th century to cover the approaches to the heights, these are generally inter-visible. This example is a Type B Quad and is located on the south eastern side of the Drop Redoubt, on the rampart of the North-east Line Adjacent to the cliff edge. Summarised from report:

A number of pillboxes were constructed across the Western Heights in the 20th century to cover the approaches to the heights, these are generally inter-visible. This example is a Type B Quad and is located on the south eastern side of the Drop Redoubt, on the rampart of the North-east Line Adjacent to the cliff edge. Its internal faces are 2.6m on all sides and is constructed of brick, sitting on a concrete plinth. The door is in the north wall and is 0.7m wide with a secondary brick blast wall, 0.47m thick covering it and extending the full height of the pillbox. (1-2)
