The following text is from the original listed building designation:
RAMSGATE HARBOUR PARADE TR 3864 NE (north side) 14/150 13.9.74 Custom House with forecourt GV II Custom House. 1893/4. Deep red brick with matching terracotta details and copper dome. Two storeys on plinth with moulded string course and quoins to modillion eaves cornice with balustraded parapet. Dome with lantern with columned drum, lion's mask frieze, dome and weather vane. Five bay front , with projecting surrounds giving l:3:lrhythm Segmentally headed sashes, with glazing bars to upper leaves; all set in Ionic columned surrounds, with balustrade to 1st floor windows. Central double panelled doors, with segmental fanlight in keyed and moulded surround. Simple railed forecourt. Interior: original staircase hall & offices survive.
Listing NGR: TR3853364792

Custom House recorded on the Ordnance Survey 1877 edition [1] in a southern location. The Custom House was seen to be in a different location to the north on the Ordnance Survey 1898 edition [2]. This structure was still visible on MasterMap dating to 2009 [3]. The area was given a monument polygon during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
