On early plans of the detached and north centre bastions a series of tanks and buildings are shown to the south and east of the outwork. The buildings represent a tool yard. They seem to have been constructed between 1804-1816 are not present on later plans of the Western Heights and were likley demolished during the remodelling of the Detached and North Centre bastion in the 1860's.
