E-Skips Online Permit Applications

Please note that this site requires active scripting to be enabled.

e-Skips provides an online application system for skip permits. It allows real time data exchange between Skip Operators and Kent County Council, thereby helping to make both parties work more efficiently. The system automatically provides data to the Elgin (Electronic Local Government Information Network) website which is available to the public to check whether or not the skip on their road has had a permit applied for etc… A permit is required for any skip placed on the highway. The skips must conform to a given specification and can be removed if they are placed without a licence. Further details are available in the skip permit below (downloadable version).

e-Skips will also allow the skip companies, once registered, to manage their permits and finances with more ease. Permits can either be paid for at the time or added to a monthly statement – which can then be paid off fully or in parts at any time during the month. The clear operating system will also make it easier to see when permits are due to expire, and to renew them in real time so that the skip remains licensed on the public highway.

We hope that this system will not only benefit the skip companies, but KCC’s co-ordination of works on the highway. Through systems like e-Skips we aim to cut congestions on Kent’s roads and to efficiently co-ordinate all users of the highways needs.

Ideally 5 working days should be allowed for processing of permits.
