A coastguard station is visible on the Epoch 1 and 2 (1877 and 1899) editions of the historic 1:2500 Ordnance Survey mapping, located on the coast at Dymchurch [1-2]. The station is no longer visible on the Epoch 3 (1908) edition [3].
Since the structure itself could not be ascertained, a point was placed on the 'Coastguard Station' label found on the Epoch 2 edition [2] during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
