A slipway on the promenade between Hythe and Seabrook is visible on Epochs 2-4 (1899, 1908 and 1946) of 1:2500 historic Ordnance Survey mapping [1-3]. The feature is still apparent on MasterMap (2009) [4]. The slipway has a maximum area of 34m by 7.1m and is attached to the seawall along its longest edge.
The feature was given a monument polygon (mapped from the Epoch 2 edition [1]) during historic mapping enhancement as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
