A sluice was formerly located on the foreshore near Plumpudding Island. It is marked on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd edition Ordnance Survey maps (c.1958-1922) but is no longer visible. Identified during an assessment of the north Kent coast by Wessex Archaeology.
