Summary

A small gunpowder works was set up by Eley Brothers on this site near Harty Ferry, with production beginning at the end of the 19th century. After the Fiirst World War. it was amalgamated with two neighbouring works under the holding Company Explosives Trading Ltd (later part of ICI). The works closed shortly afterwards and no visible features remain.

A small gunpowder works and one of three sites along the Swale (See also TQ 96 NE 1039 & TQ 96 NE 9). It is not clear when production started, probably around the turn of the 20th century, or what work was carried out. After the First World War the site, along with the ELC and CPC neighbouring works were brought together under the holding company Explosives Trades Ltd (later part of ICI). The site closed shortly afterwards. No visible features of the site remain.(1)
