A semi-circular wall/walk is apparent on the north eastern side of the 'Great Pent' (today known as Wellington Dock). It is labelled on Eldred's map, dating to 1641, as 'The Crooked (?) wall of the Great Pent'. (1) The exact date of the construction and demolition of this wall/walk is unknown but the earliest (known) cartographic source which shows it was produced a decade before Eldred’s plan, in 1631 (2). It appears to have been relatively short lived as it is not present on mapping dating to either the 16th or 18th century.
