The site of a Second World War roadblock constructed on the A256 Haine Road, Westwood beneath the Ashford - Margate railway bridge in mid 1940 to counter the threat of German Invasion. The roadblock was manned by Margate Home Guard and is recorded in the war diaries of 198 Infantry Brigade – Ref: 158. (1)
