Pair masts and hut group present 1946-61 concrete platform only by 1990.(1)

The site of a Second World War Military installation exending across a large open field west of Woodchurch. The site comprised a pair of masts, huts, gun emplacement linked by a long metalled path. This site may be the remains of a Chain Home Low radar station. These featuers were visible on aerial photographs US/7PH/GP/LOC286 V 5010 19-APR-1944 and US/7PH/GB/LOC286V 2012 19-APR-1944 and have since been removed following the war. The mast site can be seen as a parch mark in crops at TR 3249 6784. There were originally two buildings adjacent to these masts. The path follows the route of the track between the fields heading SW linking the masts to other buildings or structures and gun emplacements. Over 800m away, at the southern end, the path terminated at a V-shaped barbed wire obstruction wiin which were two small gun emplacements. This site was mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024.
