Evidence for medieval activity is sparse in in the eastern zones of the excavations associated with the construction of the East Kent Access routeway in Thanet. The only features which have been given a possible medieval date were four ditches in Zone 22. These were on the same alignment (NNE-SSW or ESE- WSW) and located south of the Iron Age horse shoe enclosure. These included an L shaped ditch which cut the ditches on the eastern of the Iron Age enclosure and may itself formed part of an enclosure. three further ditches may have formed sub divisions to the west of the enclosure. dating evidence was sparse, with only two of the ditches containing pottery which was datable to the late 11th century to the late 13th century. There were also some surface finds of medieval pottery made in the area. (information summarised from sources) (1-2)
