During the East Kent Access Route excavations (2009-2011) in zone 20, A shallow ring ditch was uncovered, its function is unclear, it may have acted as an anclosure for animals. The ditch was around 0.25m deep and up to 2.5m wide enclosed an area 20m in diameter. the fill of the ditch included a relatively small amount of animal bone, some prehistoric worked flint and a small fragment of human bone. The pottery included middle to late Iron Age wares alongside some sherds broadly datable to the Roman period. (information summarised from source) (1-2)
A ring ditch of Iron Age/Roman date was visible as a sub surface deposit in NMR 26608/28 06-APR-2010. This feature was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (3)
