During the East Kent Access Route excavations (2009-2011) a group of middle iron age pits were discovered East of the enclosure entrance, they are likely to be contemporary. One of these contained a moderate quantity of redeposited human bone and early to middle Iron Age pottery. The other pits in the area also contained similar sherds of pottery.
